My ultimate career goal is to find a "home" where I can continue to learn and grow. Some day I would like to be a manager and lead a team of Administrative employees. 

Work Experience

Legal Assistant
McDonald & McDonald Legal, Winnipeg, MB
09/2014 - Present (10 years 3 months)

The tasks involved in the Legal Assistant position include:

  • Preparing formal letters and notices to be sent to clients
  • Filing pleadings with the court clerk
  • Researching legal precedent
  • Conducting research to support the legal team
  • Answering phones and communication messages to the legal team 
  • Assisting legal team in preparing for trial by collecting documents, creating packages, copying, and preparing folders
  • Filing and maintaining the filing system 

- Implementing a monitoring system for reviewing legal documents within the library to ensure all volumes were up to date and current; this initiative saved lawyers time and money while researching in-depth cases  

- Created an organization system to allow me to work on more than one case simultaneously, therefor providing greater output  

I am considering moving on because of my interest in relocating to Brandon, MB.

The Grounds Maintenance Supervisor role involved:

  • Leading the team of students who operated ride-on lawn mower, weed whackers, and water trucks
  • Maintaining well kept and visually pleasing grounds in the Shilo base. 
  • Basic lawn tool and machine maintenance. 
  • Maintaining sports fields grounds including mowing, watering, and garbage control. 

- Implementing a feedback system that provided the team of summer students with an evaluation at the end of the summer. 

- Implementation of a staff appreciation program, used as an opportunity to thank hard working summer team. 

I moved on from this role when I took a maternity leave and was unable to return due to the extended hours in the summer season not aligning with childcare availability. 
Waitress & Bartender

As a Waitress & Bartender, the role included:

  • Serving customers in a timely manner
  • Preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for customers

  • Collecting payment from customers, including balancing till at the end of the evening
  • Managing customer complaints and ensuring satisfaction for customers 

- Trusted with management of the bar till as the second in command when the manager was absent. 

- Supported the owner with implementing an annual staff retreat to gather the employees and learn what was working and what wasn't for the business with the goal of improving the company and the morale. 

I worked in this role through university and left when I took the position as Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
